What inspired you to pursue social media?

“The exact reason why I pursued medical studies. I felt that there is a gap to fill when it came to the relationship between doctors in Oman and patients, health awareness, and trust in the Omani medical system. Social media is a great tool to spread awareness on health issues and strengthen the trust and relationship between medical system in Oman and the public. There is loads of positive progress and improvement happening in this field in Oman that not many people know about. I want to be that bridge, which brings this information closer to people.”

How have your social media feeds evolved over time? Any specific turning points?

The decision to start a medical-related social media content caused a huge change in how people looked at Dr. Nawal! A clearer picture of me as a doctor, brand owner, and a social media blogger started to evolve.”

How do you decide which brands to partner with, and how do you ensure that your followers are receptive to sponsored content?

“Most importantly, I look for a high-quality original brands that suit my image as a doctor. I avoid partnering with brands that will conflict with my own brand. I believe promoting what I honestly like and what suits me and makes my dearest followers accept them.”

Is there a central message or theme that you hope people take away from your social media content?

“Yes, She can do both!”

What emerging marketing trends do you feel will shape the digital world in the next few years?

“I am rooting for virtual reality!! What could be more convincing!”

What’s the most challenging part of working in social media? And what advice would you give to those interested in building a following online?

“Promoting valuable content, partnering with the appropriate brands and influencers, and capturing audiences’ attention is the biggest social media challenge, especially, here in Oman. For those interested in building a following online, I would say, live outside the box and be creative.”
